Generally, the symptoms that indicate ADHD are separated into two basic categories: inattention and hyperactivity-impulsiveness. Anyone who is:
- inattentive,
- finds it difficult to stay focused or pay attention to details,
- is easily distracted,
- and has memory issues.
It’s easier to notice the symptoms of ADHD as adults who have working jobs or high functioning lives because they will exhibit these symptoms more evident once they are in an active and demanding environment.
For impulsiveness and hyperactivity, the symptoms are apparent as:
- restlessness,
- an inability to stay steady,
- fidgeting,
- And talking excessively.
For adults with undiagnosed ADHD, you can observe for a history of poor academic performance, issues at work, and difficult or failed relationships. While in children, these symptoms are likely to surface before age 7.
